about it, because it's that ignorant response that you
think that this just happens to women... it was just the
most ignorant response I'd ever heard. There are a lot of
men as well as a lot of women that have dealt with this
subject and you can't hide that. I'm just one of those
people that care about other people's lives. I care. That
song is very important to me and anyone can relate to
that subject because almost everyone knows someone
that has been affected in some way by rape, with the
statistic of one in five men, and one and three
women...and I'm sure it's much higher now. Here's a
quick story, and one I've never told in an interview...
Years and years ago, probably in 99', and we were
playing a show in a skate park...while we were playing a
song I was talking about how people objectify people,
and I was going on this little splurge about it...and this
guy threw a porno magazine at me in the middle of our
set. Completely disrespectful, and I don't even know
who did it... I was like dude, whatever, FUCK YOU!
And the reason I speak about it is because rape has been
something in my life and people's lives that I know and
love, and I speak about this because it hits me deeply,
and for you to do something like this... Just FUCK you.
We play the song, we get done, and the dude starts
bragging about how he threw it at me, and so I see who
it is. I'm like, I need to get out of here, I need to leave
because I'm going to stab this guy, I'm that mad. Totally
getting ghetto right? I'm leaving, I'm out of here... and
I'm walking away and the dude says the shittiest thing
anyone can say. He says 'It's no wonder why that
happened to you.' He just says that. He just says that!
I'm like you don't fucking know me! You don't know
what's happened in my life, what's happened in my
friend's life and you say that to me? I just drop
everything I have and fucking beat him. I took on his
friends to! And this other girl jumped in! It was fucking
amazing! You don't say that. You don't disrespect
people; especially when you don't know when someone
going to bull-rush you."
But the reward is sweet, the fans are many, and the
friends are for life. A few of the people Candace counts
near and dear are the members of Dir en Grey, Mastodon,
Stonesour, Screeching Weasel, Unearth, and Red Cord. As
for knowing who her friends are she can also account for
the façade wielding leeches that seek to suckle from her
success to feed their own. "It took me quite a few years to
get my own shit together, but also to also figure out who
in my life I trusted and could depend on. Who's going to
be there when you have to leave for a month? And who is
going to be there to pick up the pieces and continue on
when you get back? Start when you left off. But the
people I have in my life when I get home now are so
amazing to me. I love them to death and I wouldn't give
them up for anything." Does being able to recognize the
frauds from the real, and having to make that decision get
her down? Hell no! She merely shrugs and lets it roll off
her back, looking towards the future, leaving the leeches
and the liars in the past.

So what lies ahead for Walls of Jericho? The album "With
Devils Amongst Us All," released on March 4, 2006,
affords the group a chance to tour on, greeting and
meeting their fans along the way, spreading the new
material world wide. "No saving me is on our new record,
it's a ballad, like a rock ballad, it's something completely
different than anything anyone would ever think we'd do.
But I love that song, because I love doing what I do, don't
get me wrong, I love being able to get up there and have
the raw emotion and being able to scream at people...but
it's an amazing feeling to be able to sing something and
have someone completely get it. In this scene that doesn't
happen very often. People don't know what I'm talking
about. People don't know what I'm saying, and so they
understand that maybe I'm angry.. I have a lot of emotion
in my face, and they understand that. But with this song,
there is not questioning what I'm talking about, there is no
question of what I'm feeling, and there is no questioning
on whether or not you can connect with that. I love
singing, I was a total choir brat, and I don't get to sing
often. So I'm definitely looking forward to the fan's
reaction to that."
