Punk rock is more than The Sex Pistols, Tattoos and safety pin piercings. It's unchained, unchecked aggression;
it’s stripped down rock and roll. It's more than power chords,
It's getting in everyone's face and shaking shit up. This is the list of all list, this is Nyght Scene's 25 essential punk
rock albums. Before you get all excited looking forward to see all of your pop
Punk or whatever the fuck they are calling punk now a days, just put your hard on away for five seconds. You will
not see Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41 or 63 tits or anything else with a one syllable word followed by a number.
This is Punk Rock 101, not morons with guitars trying to sell records 103.
24. The Germs- GI (1979 Rhino)
Most people know Darby Crash as that other great guy in a punk
band that died of a drug overdose. The Germs 1979's Debut GI,
represents the LA scene at that time, in the same way The Sex
Pistols Nevermind The Bullocks, represented the UK scene at the
time. Most people know who Darby Crash is, but Pat Smear soars
on this album as well. GI is a volcanic eruption of self inflicted
battle wounds, a perfect example of how great LA punk rock could
be. Which ended all too soon in 1980 when front man Darby Crash
died of a Heroin overdose.
25. The Bouncing Souls- Maniacal Laughter (1996 Chunksaah)
The Bouncing Souls hit us hard with their sophomore album
Maniacal Laughter, which has that extra burst of pure adrenaline
that was missing from their debut. The songs are a lot faster, and
don't worry that palooka luck streak attitude is still there, so it's no
wonder they hit us with a cover of Johnny Cash's "Born to Lose" .
With this album the Bouncing Souls could bring together The
Black Panthers and Ku Klux Klan, and have them dose-doeing too.
23. NOFX- White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean (1992 Epitaph)
Punk in Drublic may be NOFX's most critical acclaimed album, but
what the fuck do critics know White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean
is their most politically incorrect album, which over the years NOFX
has grown to deliver from album to album. On White Trash, NOFX
really falls into its niche; they don't really change after the 1992
album. They play heavy, they play fast, they play hooks, they play
like a post-hardcore southern California punk hand, but they do it
as only fat mike and company can do it.
