       Bullets and Octane
   Song for the Underdog

Finally! A good f*cking rock
album. I was honestly thought that
Buckcherry was the only thing
thriving in the rock scene (sad, isn't
it?), but no! Bullets and Octane
bring it and bring it hard, liquor
scented and militant in the form of
their second album "Songs for the
Underdog."
Underdog was amply
titled after the major label struggle
the band endured during their
post-recording of "In the Mouth of
the Young." Starved of touring
funds and publicity attention. the
band decided to do what any
striving musician should do, flip
the bird, burn the contract, and do
it yourself. Recorded for under
$5,000
Underdog blows the Page
Hamilton produced "In the Mouth
of the Young," out of the water by
way of catchy rifts, sing-a-long
choruses, and publicized thoughts
that would other wise go unsaid for
proprieties sake. Take the opening
lyrics of "The Perfect Bitch" for
example: "She's a perfect bitch, the
kind you'd like to take her
innocents and leave in the
morning. Say goo bye! Hey you
can't make this up, this is me-
everything you see. And I know I
can take home if I want, and I
want..." Unafraid to poke fun at
the bar flies and the debauched
musicians that they are Bullets and
Octane brings you everything you
want in a raunchy feel good band.
They beat the tabloids by airing
their dirty laundry loud and proud,
boldly scrawled in their lyrics and
their album art.
        My American Heart
  Hiding Inside the Horrible
                  Weather

My American Heart reminds me of
a band that would spawn if Kill
Hannah and Fall Out Boy hooked
it up in a dark Chicago alley
somewhere and birthed all the
good things of booth bands.
"Hiding" is dance pop rock that is
party friendly and easily could
sound tracked for a summer teen
movie. But make no mistake in
the talent of M.A.H., with
smooth vocals and a mellowed
feel of the band supporting
them, this album is chocked full
of singles that would blend
seamless in with the radio
friendly crowd. "Hiding" tells
various stories that are
constantly changing with every
song, taking you on a lyrical
journal while stealing away any
problems you might be feeling at
the time.
