"I told Brad (Jones) that if we ever
got really famous, I’d get this tattoo of
a stem that wraps all the way around
my arm and down my wrist and in my
hand there would be a rose." Andy
Faza, frontman of the local band DC
North says with a smirk, after Brad
Jones told us about his tattoo that was
just a dead end. "What would constitute
as really famous?" inquires Brad Jones,
guitarist for DC North. Andy ponders
the question for a moment, then leans
in, putting his elbow on the pizzeria
booth’s table with scattered empty
paper plates consumed by bits of dried
out pizza crust. "Like if we’re in
Sweden and a guy comes up and says,
"OH MY GOD! YOU’RE BRAD
JONES!"" Andy lounges back against
the bench and Brad gives a smirk, "I
hope we only get famous in Sweden."
They chuckle.
DC North plays melodic Power Pop.
Power Pop? Yes, I said Power Pop.
While most bands shy away from the
title, DC North embraces it. "It
describes our sound the best, it’s what
we are, we can’t change it." Andy
explains.
Bred locally in Tampa, FL, sometimes
it's hard to take the members of DC
North seriously with them chatting
about Captain America and liking to
dress up like X-Men, but they take the
business side of things very seriously.
"We try to stay as professional as
possible, but also we have a fun side to
us." Brent says. "We are all definitely
goofy but we do take it very seriously."
Andy adds. "Which is very evident
during their sound check as Andy sits
back and listens carefully to see who
needs to be louder and who's out of
tune, with brother Zack on stage
checking microphones. Is it ever more
difficult working with your brother
versus working with another band
member? Zack answers the question
