“Come on dude, Rollins barefoot? No
      shirt on, come on.”
says Andrew, the guitarist
for Tears in the Sahara, when asked who would win
in a fight: Henry Rollins (formerly of Black Flag) or
Lemmy Kilmister (of Motorhead). “But I think those
things on Lemmy’s Face would explode, and aliens
would come out and kill Rollins.” Josh, the other guitarist
and vocalist for Tears in the Sahara, adds. Looks can
truly be deceiving when it comes to deciphering the
sound of Tears in the Sahara, with their new wave pop
sound on
songs like,
“After 15
minutes”,
which
actually has
a much
longer title,
which I will
get to later.
After
hearing a
song like,
“After 15
Minutes”
you would
definitely
think that
these guys
would be
sporting
flock of

seagull mullets with pastel animal print shirts and too tight
hardcore jeans, but Josh (Vocals/Guitar) Drew (Keytar/
Vocals) Andrew (Guitar) Joe (Bass) and Diego (Drums)
who make up Tears in the Sahara, actually resemble
normal human beings. Nothing is exactly as it seems with
Tears in the Sahara with song titles like, “After 15
Minutes I Was Completely in Love With Her, and After a
Half an Hour I Had Completely Given Up All Ideas of
Stealing Her Purse” which is just one of the songs that
has a title that has nothing to do whatsoever with the
song that it titles, and, not to mention, will give you
an asthma attack when you attempt to say it all in one
breath. “Yeah, so that’s why we shortened it to After 15
Minutes.” comments Josh. Why such random song titles?
“Most of the time it’s just us being silly, or laughing about
something. A few of the song titles do actually relate to the
songs.” Josh says.

Tears in the Sahara is a prominent figure in the local Tampa
scene, playing shows in our own backyard at venues such

                                                             someone like

gotta step it up with Tears’. We definitely keep each other in
check.” Tears isn’t like most of the other pop-punk bands
out of Tampa; they have more of a techy, pop, punk, indie,
rock sound. “We sound like a million babies crying.” chimes
in Andrew when asked to describe Tears' sound. It’s hard to
put a finger on one word to describe the sound of Tears in
the Sahara with influences that range from Incubus to The
Police; not to mention they have a Keytar. However, an
accurate description of Tears’ sound would be, “A collective
