When you think of Indiana, what do you picture? For me, personally, it’
s race cars and cow towns. Whatever you picture, I guarantee you the first
thing that comes to mind isn’t an on the rise metal band. And yet, that’s
exactly where The Contortionist comes from. In a genre that is slowly
declining into a contest of who can play scales the fastest, The
Contortionist manage to keep their focus on who can write the best songs.
And this focus is driven by a passion and determination that is rare among
musicians of any genre these days. Just a few days after finishing up the
Slaughter Survivors tour, they’re already back on the road. Even with a
fear of the mainstream, this is a band that’s going places.

NS: You're on the Slaughter Survivors tour right now. How's the tour
going so far?

Robby: It's going pretty sweet.

NS: Which city has had the best crowd so far?

Robby: Probably, Orlando florida.

NS: What was your most memorable moment from this tour?

Robby: Tonight's Venue, It is probably the worst venue, I have seen in my
entire life. Its a tiny bar in the middle of no where in Delaware and it is
really really bad.

NS: What's the worst injury that has happened on tour?

Robby: Were pretty lucky we haven't had very many injuries thus far.
NS: You're closing in on it being a year since your last album dropped.
Any plans for new music?

Robby: Yeah, Were planning on making a video early next year,
followed by the new album in the fall. well, i think I don't know. The
fans can expect everything they love about us.

NS: Who do you think has put out the greatest album of this year so
far?

Robby: Definitely The Dear Hunter’s new record, The Color Spectrum.

NS: What is your greatest fear about the music industry?

Robby: I would be afraid of the mainstream trying to pick up on metal.

NS: Where do you see your band in five years?

Robby: Still playing music, Success wise, I have no idea. I can see us
still doing what were doing now

NS: What do you consider the greatest moment of your musical
career?

Robby: The last week of this tour has been way more than we wanted
it to be, its just been phenomenal. Florida, Texas, and Georgia have all
just been amazing.

NS: What is one trend in music that needs to die?

Robby: Autotuned vocals... or well the overuse of autotuned vocals.
