Come All You Madmen The Briggs Side One Dummy Records Perpetual road warriors, The Briggs are back once again. This time with their fourth full- length album ‘Come All You Madmen’. This marks their second release on Side One Dummy Records. The constant touring has finally paid off for the Los Angeles band. They’re finally gaining some well-earned respect. ‘Come All You Madmen’ is just the record capable of putting them over the edge too, produced by Joe Gittleman of The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones who also produced their previous record ‘Back To Higher Ground’. Why fuck with the formula when it obviously works? ‘Madmen’ is chalked full of possible singles opening with the anthem-esque “Madmen”, a song that could easily have them mistaken for a Flogging Molly tune. Amidst similar tracks such as “Ship of Fools”, there comes the sing- a-long-y “This is LA”. Any of these 3 songs could easily become the new flavor of the week on Fuse, or MTV for that matter. ‘Come All Madmen’ also has 9, more capable singles that could turn The Briggs into the new Bouncing Souls. The Briggs is everyone’s new favorite punk band, that has oddly enough been around for nearly a decade being dismissed as that one opening band. ‘Come All You Madmen’ hits stores June 17th.
“V” Is For Viagra Puscifer Thanks But No Thanks Records This one is just for the hardcore Tool fans. You know who you are. The ones that hold James Keenan Maynard up on some kind of pedestal. No doubt Maynard is talented and quite possibly one of the greatest musicians of our time, but it still doesn’t mean that everything that he touches is gold. ‘“V” Is For Viagra’ is a remix album of Puscifer’ s album ‘“V” Is For Vagina’. Remixes are done by everyone from Paul Barker of Ministry and Mat Mitchell of Queens of the Stone Age, to Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails, with a remix from Joey Jordison of Slipknot. ‘“V” Is For Viagra’ is exactly what it a remix is meant to be when put out for the die-hard fans of Maynard and his revolving circus of projects. If you’re a Tool fan, this might be your bag.
Rise Anew Revolution Koch Records ‘Rise’ is the debut record on Koch Records from Austin, Texas band Anew Revolution. ‘Rise’ doesn’t sound like a debut record it sounds like these guys have done this before. Maybe that’s because they all have. AR consists of former members of Unloco (Singer/ Guitarist Joey Duenas) and Salves of Dope (Bassist Frank Salvaggio and Drummer Rob Urbani). AR is rounded out with Lead Guitarist Shaun Stockton. Produced by the notorious Mudrock (Avenged Sevenfold and Godsmack), ‘Rise’ blends equal parts of metal with melody and harmonies, giving AR that radio friendly metal sound that seems to ruling the waves as of late. With tracks like “Generation” and “California Burning”, ‘Rise’ is a well rounded record that will easily be the ‘nostalgic rock’ record of the summer and will be good back ground music for Metal heads from 1996 hanging out on front porches knocking back a few cold ones until 4 am. This one isn’t for amateurs. Young bucks not need to apply.
