Take Action Volume 7
Various Artist

Wow! It doesn’t seem like it has been that
long since the first Take Action tour, but
then again when you start to get old time
seems so much shorter leading up to the
inevitable event of death. This 20 track
record, has all of your favorite hardcore, emo
and pop acts from, Every Time I Die,
Silverstein, Chiodos, From First to Last
(without Sonny Moore of course), Emery,
Motion City Soundtrack, All Time Low,
Cute Is What We Aim For, Mayday Parade,
Valencia, Every Avenue, Meg & Dia, The
Spill Canvas, Thrice, The Matches, Set Your
Goals, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Bled and
Haste the Day. The only artist that seems to
be missing from Take Action past is I Am
Ghost.
Take Action opens up with a public service
announcement from Andy Williams of Every
Time I Die. Followed by a great opening
track by Every Time I Die, We’re Wolf.
There isn’t any room for negativity on this
record, considering it is made up of 19 artist.
Take Action is fully equipped with a Live
DVD as well with live performances from
Motion City Soundtrack, The Receiving End
of Sirens, Plain White T’s, The All American
Rejects, Hellogoodbye, All Time Low, This
Providence, MXPX, Four Year Strong, Jet
Lag Gemini, Aiden, Alesana, Every Time I
Die, The Devil Wears Prada, A Life Once
Lost, The Human Abstract, The Red Chord,
August Burns Red, High on Fire and Suicide
Silence.
The World As We Know It
The Morning Of

I just don’t know if there is room for another
overly poppy artist. The World As We Know
It is an overzealous attempt to blend equal
parts of Vanessa Carlton, Dashboard
Confessionals and The Fray. The Morning of
does a great job at layering there songs with
multi colored textures, as well them having
mastering the art of song structure. The use of
the piano on this record, by Chris Petrosino is
confusing some songs it fits in perfectly like
on, The New Is In, however it just
doesn’t fit into songs like Let Your Spirit Soar.
The Morning Of would be a logical fit as a
Non Denominational Church’s house band,
but they are just a bit too naïve for this world.
I’m not sure where they fit in, and I am not so
sure they know either. I am sure they would
fit comfortably in a Gilmour Girls montage but
somehow I don’t see them fitting in
comfortably into any nook or granny of the
modern day music scene. I would like to know
what world they know, because obviously it’s
not this one.
In a scene that is over saturated with acts that
have no song structure nor real talent The
Morning Of are social outcast. The Morning
Of will be one of those artist that will be
neglected for years to come, flying way
beneath the radar just getting by, until they
either dismember or gain a cult following.
Misfortunes’ Advance
This Is Hell

For the longest time I honestly believed that
I was just extremely naïve when I was a wee
lad, thinking that Nirvana was one of the
most influential bands of all time, right up
there with The Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth and
The Velvet Underground, because there
weren’t any bands sounding like or listing
Nirvana as an influence in interviews.
However those days are over with the
current revival of the punk movement by
bands such as England’s Gallows and our
own This is Hell, the influence of Nirvana is
becoming undeniably.
Lock yourself in a room and imbed yourself
into Misfortunes’ Advance the newest
releases from This Is Hell. A dark, damp
basement is the best setting lock it on repeat
and don’t come out for 2 weeks, you will
start to see things differently. If you’re only
exposure of This Is Hell is from Myspace,
you better make it 3 weeks. If you had the
chance to experience This Is Hell live while
they were on tour with Gallows you
understand me already.
Crashing guitars, raw and unhinged is all that
needs to be said, about Misfortunes’
Advance, 13 songs in under 40 minutes.
Serenity and honesty in music are making a
startling comeback with This Is Hell at the
forefront. If you’re looking for something to
listen to that will make you cooler than the
“in” crowd or the next “buzz” band, move
on yuppie scum because this one is ours this
one is for all us fuckers that are making love
in the pit somewhere, so fuck off!
