What can you say about Dave Peters of
Throwdown other than he is the fuckin’ man? He packs a stare that can
scare the hell out of anyone stupid enough to want to take him on and a
smile that can charm even the coldest of hearts.
The media often likes to have him wedged into this role of a straight-edge
martyr, but that is not the case. Though he is admittedly straight-edge, he is
not the sort to force his beliefs down your throat or to dismiss you for not
being of the same ilk. As easy going as any Orange County, California kid,
Dave rolls with the crowd as it comes, embracing everyone like friends from
long ago. You can’t help but getting swept up in it and feeling at peace,
though the music around you encourages “dancing.”
Dave Peters joined Throwdown in 2000, lending his vocals to the song that
no doubt shames them to this day "Baby  Got Back" by Sir-Mix-A-Lot
on
Too Legit for the Pit: Hardcore Takes the Rap. When asked about how
he feels when most new fans become fans over said song he
simply shakes his head with a bashful smile and says “Man...
                       really? Well, that’s cool..”
From 2002 until present Dave Peter’s has been
ripping up faces with bone rattling growls and
messages that you can even take or leave
shortly after hearing it. The latest release
“Venom and Tears” does nothing but
                                               solidify their imprint on the
                                                  Hardcore/Metal scene. Very
                                                    reminiscent of Pantera’s Vulgar
Display of Power, Venom is more
metal sided than anything, and I
have to say my favorite video of
all time. Even a meek cat like
me wants to find the biggest bad
ass in the pit and send him on
his ass during the opening track
                                                        and first single “Holy Roller.”
