January 15th seemed to be the day that band
members decide to pretend to be one another
other. Scary Kids Scaring kids crashed the
Gwen Stacy interview, and now member of
Haste The Day crashed the Drop Dead
Gorgeous interview. It was like a buy-one-
get-one free night at the St Pete State
Theatre.
Drop Dead Gorgeous, who hail from Denver,
Colorado is a five-member post hardcore
band. The band started before some of the
members could even walk properly. “Kyle
and I met when were like, two,” remembers
gutarist Dan Gustavson. “We met everyone
else at like, shows and stuff and we just
decided to start a band. That’s about it.”
The name of the band is a play on the catch-
phrase “drop-dead gorgeous.” “We were
just thinking about band names and Kyle
came up with it and from then on, that’s what
it was for some reason.”
“We grew up listening to a lot of hardcore,
and not the Goo Goo Dolls. Put that in there.
We did not get any influence from the Goo
Goo Dolls.” Dan nods. After much
researching, we know why they do not like the
Goo Goo Dolls. More on that later
The bands lastet album, Worse Than a Fairy
Tale, is a concept album as well as an
interactive experience for fans, telling the
story of a serial killer who plies his trade in a
small fictional town called Saylor Lake. Every
song connects the pieces of the puzzle, and
listeners have the opportunity to decipher the
mystery themselves through a multimedia
