Musical veterans Placebo don’t make it state side too often, all
though it’s just a skip across the pond. This past summer they
graced us with their much needed presence, if you happened missed
them go a head and punch yourself in the groin, it’s OK I’ll wait….
Ok there. However, while Placebo was in the States last August
Nyght Scene got a chance to catch up with bassist, Stephan Olsdal.
Nyght Scene: How Does it Make you feel that American Audiences
still view you as a new band?
Stephan Olsdal: You can go either way you can get depressed and
not put in any effort what so ever and say fuck this or you can say
fuck it we’re going to make people notice us, and make them realize
that we’re a fucking good band, but in all honesty we’re use to do it.
Over in Europe we play for Stadiums of people our selves. When we
come over here (The United States) we hang back we play for four

Project Revolution Tour was because well My Chemical Romance
invited us, but also we get to play for a lot more people.
NS: Well obviously you guys are still relevant?
SO: Absolutely, and I think that adds an appeal to our fire. We are a
very ambitious band. You look at a lot of bands from the 90’s and
they’re not around anymore. We’ve done 5 albums and there’s still
more to come.
NS: What’s the secret to your longevity?
SO: Ambition is one, mutual respect for one and we have
musical chemistry. Which is the reason why we have
relevance, and that we have something to say. As well as
we still have a connection to youth culture.
NS: Do you feel that there will be a time when Placebo
doesn’t make records anymore?
SO: Of course. I don’t know when that will be. I guess
when we feel that we’re not making a record that is
better than the previous one.
NS: How were you excepted on the Project Revolution
tour?
SO: Very well, we had to modify the set a bit. We went
