
Sit up. Stop talking. Spit out your gum. Pencil
and paper out. Buffalo is the second largest cit in
New York . Every Time I Die is one of the
largest accomplishments from that area. Okay,
so maybe we’re biased. But really, who wants to
be known for a waterfall that isn’t even theirs?
The band was established by brothers lead singer
Keith and guitarist Jordan Buckley, whose father
teaches at the University at Buffalo . They added
to the initial lineup with guitarist Andrew
Williams, bassist John McCarthy, and drummer
Michael "Ratboy" Novak.
In their first short tour covering the Buffalo ,
New York and Toronto , Canada vicinities, the
band met Goodfellow Records producer Chris
Logan, who released the band's debut EP Burial
Plot Bidding War in 2000.
“If anything, [meeting Logan ] just sort of gave
us the confidence to go out and make greater
decisions. When we started, I wasn’t imagining
signing to a record label. It wasn’t even in the
picture. Once we talked to him, we played
around with other labels, got some attention, and
here we are.” Keith Buckley says smiling.
The following year, Aaron Radaczyk replaced
McCarthy as bassist before the band released its
debut full-length album Last Night In Town in
2001 (reissued in 2004 with new artwork!) under
Ferret Records, leading to a tour for that album
in collaboration with Killswitch Engage the
following year.
In 2003, Steven Micciche replaced Ratajczak as
bassist for the band's second full-length Hot
Damn!, ETID’s second full length release that
was put onto store shelves July 2003
Hot Damn! put ETID on the map, with critics
and fans marking the record the band's breakout
album, leading to spots on tours such as Ozzfest
and Sounds of the Underground.
However, Micciche resigned from his position in
2005, being replaced by Kevin Faulk of Between
the Buried and Me fame. However, three months
after recording sessions for the band's third
album Gutter Phenomenon, (released on August
23, 2005 on Ferret Records and received guest
vocals from My Chemical Romance front-man
Gerard Way) he was
