A Lesson in Romantics
Mayday Parade

There’s cute and then there’s a
sugar gag that comes equipped
with “ Ooo, ooo’s” and this just
happens to be one of those
albums. A Lesson in Romantics
is a record made for those that
have short attention spans and
only want to prance around to
the music. I listened to the
album from beginning to end
and I felt no depth at all. It isn’t
because I’m a metal head and
that I prefer screaming to
Oooing, or that I have an
undying hatred to pop music. I
love Hanson. But when a song
is made simply to be made or
aired in an episode of the OC I
have a problem with that, and
this album is one non-stop
Orange County episode. Though
well put together I’ve heard it all
before. I tried. What more can I
say?
Sirens
It Dies Today

I’ve been a die hard I.D.T fan
since The Caitiff Choir dropped
in 2004 and continue to be
impressed. There’s something
so romantic about collecting the
severed heads of anyone who
looks your lover’s way, and that
same vibe has carried over to
Sirens. Sirens seems to sway to
the more vocal singing as a
opposed to the guttural
screaming heard in the previous
albums. This in my opinion
allows for a broader audience. It
appeals to the softer side of the
soul one moment only to grab
the darkness and throttle it
awake with a nasty sneer.
Sirens is definitely a step in the
right direction. I can’t wait to
see where the newly installed
vocalist Jason Wood will lead us.
Every Avenue
AH!

Every Avenue is definitely a
dance album for kids with tight
jeans and multi-tonal mullets,
but I can’t help but bop my
head along. It’s a catchy little
record that inspires good
feelings about kittens and disco
balls, as odd as it sounds. It’s
the perfect soundtrack for
returning from your last free
summer before high school
begins a new. Every Avenue is
every bit as refreshing as that
quickly faded summer and
hopefully longer lasting. Would
I buy this album? Sure. Would I
listen to it constantly? Can’t say
that I would. But come that
dark rainy day the album will
come in handy.
