because you did it for yourself.” Iero
continues. “I mean if people like it
great, if not fuck them!” He adds.
Iero can easily recall his first
punk rock show, “It was at the Pipe
Line in New Jersey with Westen, The
Scene’s. I think The Bouncing Souls
played and a band called My Favorite
    Citizen.”  Iero recalls. Of course
growing up in New Jersey no one in
their right mind can deny the influence
of The Misfits, whether it’s a
    conscious influence or a subconscious
influence. It’s hard to deny their
influence living in the United States , let
alone in Jersey. “That’s still a force to
be reckoned with.” Iero says of The
Misfits. “That’s just a legendary band.
Growing up in Jersey especially where
I grew up in Belleville, we were right
across the street from Lodi, you can
still go to Lodi High School today and
look at the old football pictures and see
Doyle and Jerry on the football team.
They were local heroes.” When asked
what era he prefers, the Danzig years
or the Graves year there is a long
pause. “The Danzig years of course.”
Iero finally says with a laugh “Graves
did a good job for what he does, but it
wasn’t The Misfits, they really should
    have just changed the name.”
               Knowing Iero’s true blue punk
rock roots, it’s more than obvious why
Leathermouth sounds the way it does.
It is the complete opposite of My
    Chemical Romance. Upon hearing
Leathermouth for the first time many
don’t even realize that, it’s Frank Iero
    on the microphone screaming lyrics
    that can be considered apocalyptic,
ranging from murder to arson, with
lines from the song Murder Was The
Case They Gave Me it’s easy to see
that Mr. Iero is a little pissed off, “this
one is for old times/ you’re so empty
inside// you did this to yourself/ this is
