That’s sick! Are you seeing this?!”
Exclaims Shaant Hacikyan looking out
across the boat dotted shoreline of
Vinoy Park. The ingenious individuals
aboard these boats are laid back on the
decks facing the stage laden beach park
and listening to Warped Tour, yes
listening. In essence these fans have
gotten a free ticket to see every band of
the day from a strategic and crowd-less
location. “They deserve it, I mean if
they’re coming by water…they’ve got
it.”
“My favorite [thing about Warped] is
this..” Points out Cute‘s lead singer,
motioning to the picturesque summer
day on the St. Pete coast. “I’m in a new
spot everyday…I mean...I’m ten feet
away from the water, 20 feet away
from the water. It‘s insane…just all of
it.” As awesome as he may find the
location change there are certain things
that apparently any band can learn to
hate on the world’s best known
moving circus. “I hate the catering
line. Catering line is the worst. Ask any
band. Ask them, and if they don’t say
catering, mention catering, and they’ll
be like, ‘oh you’re right!’.”
Buffalo natives, Cute Is What We
Aim For are far from seasoned
veterans. Though the band is easy to
find on video heavy channels like
FUSE, they are appearing for the first
time ever on Warped Tour this year.
“It’s been a very interesting
experience…It‘s really a smooth
system, it‘s weird. At first it‘s kinda
crazy but everyone really knows what
they‘re doing after so many years.
They got it.” When asked if he has any
crazy stories from the road, the singer
simply shakes his head with a good
natured laugh, “Nothing that I’m
willing to talk about...I’ll probably get
in trouble.”
Despite the success of he and his
bandmates, Shaant gives off a very
down to earth air. “I wouldn’t say we’
ve made it. There’s so much more I
want to do, but at the same time,
everyday I wake up and I have to
