Warped Tour has become more then just
a punk rock summer camp over the years,
taking on more and more bands from
newer genres and whisking them away for
a summer of fun and sun. Boys Like Girls
is joining the tour this year for the first
time ever and drummer John Keefe sat
down by the bay to talk to Nyght Scene
about their beginnings, inspirations and
their experiences on Warped.
Nyght Scene- How are you liking
Warped Tour so far?
John- “It’s awesome! Except for, it was a
little rainy today but, it’s fun. It’s like punk
rock summer camp. I’m having a blast, it’
s really nice.”
Nyght Scene- Is this your first time on
it?
John- “Yeah, but I’ve been going for
years. Me and Martin used to go all the
time and Paul has actually never been to a
Warped Tour, his first one is the one he’s
playing on. Which is kinda funny but he’s
a young guy.”
Nyght Scene- What were your favorite
bands to go see on Warped Tour?
John- “I always like seeing bands like
New Found Glory. I loved Coheed [and
Cambria] and I’m stoked that they’re on this year. I love watching them.”
Nyght Scene- What was it like when it started pouring rain during
‘Thunder’?
John- “That was the weirdest thing! I think kids will be talking about that for a
long time. It’s super cool. I mean, it’s done that couple of times, but never when
he was singing. It was a cool experience.”
Nyght Scene- Any crazy stories from the tour?
John- “I don’t know, it’s been really low key and relaxed. I mean, obviously there’
s a lot going on during the day. But it’s just...it’s summertime. You know, we’re
all out here just having fun and playing music.”
Nyght Scene- How did it feel to know you got a spot on the Alternative Press
‘Bands to Watch In 07‘ list?
John- “We’re stoked. Anything like that is really cool for us. You know? The fact
that kids are talking about us and the media is starting to like us is a really cool
thing.”
Nyght Scene- How did you guys get together?
John- “Me and Bryan [Donahue] had been playing bands and stuff for like, six
years or so and then I met Martin on a summer tour. He was in another band and
both those bands broke up and then Martin and Bryan started playing together and
