we all moved into an apartment
together and played for a couple of years.
Eventually we all moved out of it and then
‘rekindled the fire’ [laughs] a couple of
years ago and decided to try it for real and
we found Paul through doing some demos
and we brought him in and he really
clicked and the rest is history I guess.”
Nyght Scene- Do you have any set song
writing process?
John- “I don’t know, I mean. Songs all
come out different ways and maybe Martin
will come in with some lyric ideas, or we’ll
just be playing at practice and something
will sound good and we’ll say ‘okay, let’s
go with that’. There are just so many
ways.”
Nyght Scene- What’s your personal
favorite song off the album?
John- “My personal favorite is probably
Hero/Heroine. It’s a really cool song, very
dynamic, and it’s catchy too.”
Nyght Scene- Is there a moment that
you could consider when you would be
able to sit back and say ‘yeah, we’ve
made it’?
John- “Oh, I don’t know. I feel like if I’m doing this for
the next ten years of my life, then I’ll feel like maybe I’ve made it. But even then,
if it really turns into a career while I’m doing it for a long time, and after 25 years
I can say that I was able to live off my music then I’ve made it.”
Nyght Scene- What’s your favorite part about being in the band?
John- “I like to travel and meet people. I mean, I also love playing in front of
people obviously, too. But being able to travel and find places like this [motions
out across the beach] it’s unbelievable. It’s so nice here today.”
Nyght Scene- What are the plans for after Warped?
John- “We’re gonna go to Japan and then when we come back and do a
headlining tour in the fall. And we actually don’t know what our next single is
gonna be. We still have a long road on this one hopefully.” [LC]
