Body Count. Go to the last track, and fast forward a bit. Yes,
that is a random rap break down. “We did that because we
could.” Good says laughing. “Someone gave us a suggestion
and we all went ‘…that’s brilliant.’ It’s just like
“Ride The
Wings of Pestilence.”
That song is such a joke, it’s so weird
that everyone takes it so seriously. That song would definitely
describe who we are. Not the ‘kill you and wear your skin as my
new identity’ but the joking manner of it.”
That playful mindset carried over into another track called
“Christmassacre” in which Good gave out the beloved Pete
Wentz’s phone number. When asked he chuckles. “I did it
because he gave out my screen name on their message board or
something. I don’t remember. But it was payback, definitely.”
So, whose phone number is he giving out next? “I don’t know,”
Matt laughs. “It would have to be someone really good though.
I’ll think about that. I haven’t really planned on it cause no one
deserves it…yet”
The band just got off the “Rather Be Saying N00bz Tour.”
No, you read correctly. That was not an error on my part. “I
think everyone knows that we like video games now. It opened
us up to a whole new fan base just by being on the tour with
that name. It’s awesome.”
On November 29 on their Myspace blog, they announced
they were going to be a part of the 2008 Hot Topic Take Action
Tour, as well as on December 6, they announced they were
going to be part of the 2008 Vans Warped Tour. “We’ll tour
with anyone, really. It’s great meeting so many new people.”
As long as you keep Atreyu away from them. In late 2006, the
bands were touring together when From First to Last were
basically kicked off the tour without an explanation at the time.
The band released a statement immediately after the incident on
their Myspace blog reading:
“We did everything possible to stay on this tour. Sonny would not
have been able to sing due to a tear in his vocal chord, but would
have been onstage playing guitar while Craig, of Chiodos, would
handle singing duties for the remainder of the tour. Our plan to enable
us to play the rest of the tour was disregarded and as our crew was
setting up for the show in Worcester, MA we were informed that we
were being kicked off of the tour”
But there are always two sides to every story. Atreyu fired back
quickly with this statement:
“For one, if you cared about your singer at all he should be at
home, resting, not playing guitar just so your band can make more
money. Two, we didn’t want Craig to sing two sets a night and hurt his
voice, forcing both bands to have to drop off (regardless of whether he
said he's done it before or not)”.
“I don’t really hold grudges, but I don’t care. I still think what they
did was bad, I just don’t worry about it anymore. If we toured with them
again in the future, there would probably be an issue, but not from us.”
Getting their main start through the internet music scene, Good is still
apprehensive about it. “I don’t really like how a group of kids can make
a Myspace page and be all ‘We’re a band now’ and they don’t have
anything to put up. I think people are taking Myspace too seriously.
Which is why I think bands are breaking up more and more, and a lot
faster. They are getting thrown into things a lot quicker than the natural
process calls for it. I read Absolutepunk.net everyday, and there is
always some band breaking up.”
Good continues on why he thinks these bands are breaking up so
quickly. “When you’re in a band, and you’re serious, you go on all
these shitty, no name tours through the country. You’re cramped in a
van, in the heat or the cold, and you have to deal with it. You get a lot
of insight of what being in a band is all about. You make compromises. I
think everyone needs to go through that to really appreciate what they
are.
From First to Last will also be dropping their new album in early
spring, which as of now is self-titled, which seems to be a lucky time of
year for the band since each of their albums have come out in March or
April. The band recorded in the studio where Dear Diary, My Teen
Angst Has A Body Count had been recorded. The band has recorded
for the second time in Los Angeles . The record has since finished
recording, and on November 14, a new song, "Two as One" was
released on the band's myspace.
