pissed off at what American Idol was doing to the music industry, that we had to do
something.” The Internet was still had that new car smell, myspace was an
accidental pregnancy yet to happen. The idea of Internet radio was still a foreign
idea people knew the internet more or less was primarily used for plagiarism or porn
at this point. It wasn’t like how it is now where everyone and their brother has a
different internet station on all 8 computers through out their house. “We just
wanted to do something for the Rock & Roll bands.” J says, “We decided to go
with the radio, because I don’t know if I have the face for TV, but I have the voice
for radio.” He laughs.
Rock Solid Pressure morphed into the show that we all know and love after a fall
out with Sony Records, and J doesn’t care to elaborate on it other than it was a “fall
out”. “The first three years that we did the Rock Solid Pressure it was exclusive to
Sony. We were not allowed to let in any other labels. Then there was let’s just say a
falling out with Sony.” After the fall out every label know to man came at J and
Patty, J Records, RCA, you name it they came. “They just all wanted to be involved
together.” J adds. In the end it was a blessing for J and Patty to have a falling out
with Sony, with all the attention that Rock Solid Pressure was getting from the
music industry they caught the ear of Orlando radio. “They flew us down, set us
with a place, they just wanted us to come to Florida. We didn’t even know that
there was such a great music scene in Florida. I mean I knew Tampa was the death
metal capitol of the world, but I hate no idea.” After a little research the
duo decided to take the job which landed them right in the thick of the Florida music
scene. “In the end it was the best thing to happen to Rock Solid Pressure.”
Rock Solid Pressure is now recorded live independently at (studio) in Lakeland, Fl
where it is picked up nationally through FM stations as well as Satellite radio. The
FM syndication is something new for the Rock Solid Pressure, you might notice
that J Rock’s favorite word in the world “Mother fucker” has been dropped from the
show. With the Rock Solid Pressure coming as far as it has could J Rock imagine
doing the show with anyone else other than Patty? “I could fancy a solo career.” He
says laughing, “No we work great together, it’s the combination that’s what got the
show started. She’s nice one and I’m the mean one. We just go in every week and
hit play and whatever comes out of mouths comes out.” He adds. “Everything is
just off the top our heads. A lot of people have tried to copy what we do, and have
tried to copy The Rock Solid Pressure Showcase, but
there’s only one J Rock & Patty.”
