This has absolutely nothing to
do with the music scene so bare
with me. Recently I’ve been watching
more T.V. than usual. Mainly things like
CSI and Law and Order, but I happened to
stumble over a VH1 special on Britney Spears
and her crazy year in review. Now, don’t get me
wrong, I am not a celeb gossip participant. The
very idea of having one’s life mapped out in the
pages of ragmags turns my stomach. I just couldn’t
turn it off. The segment about the way she treated her
children pisses me off to the point of contemplating the removal of Ms.
Spears’ ovaries. She treated them like breathing key chains!  Something
to help her stick out in the Hollywood crowd. As if her drugged/drunken
behavior wasn’t enough. The little boys were jostled, subject to Mama’s
inebriated rants, and moved from party scene to party scene. It was
disgusting, and oddly enough, relieving to see that the wannabe rapper,
Kevin Federline, or K-fed, got sole custody of young Sean Preston and
Jayden. Did that sop Britney though? Hell no. She got herself knocked up
again. Replacement children to once again give her the attention she
craves.
It’s not just celebrities that use babies as a away to earn some sort of
mentally fucked social status, we “normies” do it too. Many a girl I knew
in high school came up pregnant and immediately the whole school was
well informed by way of the pregnant mother. Long gone are the days of
shameful or secreted teenage pregnancy. It’s cool to be twelve and with
child. To have six by graduation, if you graduate at all.
I’m not judging young mothers in any respect. Giving life to another is an
amazing thing. What drives me insane is how disposable these children
become. Kids see a child as something easily given away or destroyed,
never wanting the responsibility. The grandparents or the system raise
the child and it’s a damn shame. “I’m not old enough to be a mom!” We if
that’s the case, you aren’t old enough to have sex. A child is not and
object! They are beautiful breathing beings that deserve more than a
fleeting thought.
There was a girl in my high school named Kelly who had six abortions
before graduation. Six. She wasn’t sexually abused or raped to form her
children, just simply promiscuous and obviously uninterested in
protecting herself. She brought in the clinic files for every appointment
that had come and gone, nearly gloating with what she’d done. She was
remorseless and cold. All I could think about were the people that could
not have children and would give their souls for the chance to have a
baby. When Kelly got married she found out she could no longer have
children and I just laughed. I had no pity for her. Karma bitch
smacked her into place.
Then there are the ones that keep their children for their monetary
value. Again, in high school there was a mother of two named Toya.
She loved the fact that she got a fat check for her children and loved
to talk about how she spent the money, none of which on the
intended children. Her parents floated the baby bills. One day in
study group, she boasted about a new car she wanted. When asked
how she would make the monthly payments, she responded most
seriously that she would just have another kid.
Not all parents are bad, and I do not condemn abortion, I’m just sick
of watching the helpless suffer while the selfish help themselves.
There are options out there and then again there is always
forethought. Take a moment to think about your actions. They don’t
just effect you. And if you’re still a selfish fuck, give me your kid. I’ll
raise them with love and compassion, money and popularity be
damned.
