What do you do when the
       music scene in your
    hometown sucks? Well if
you’re Swedish Rock & Roll band
Vains of Jenna, you ship off to the
rock & roll capital of the world,
Hollywood, California. I say rock & roll
because that’s what it is, at times reminiscent
of Guns N Roses, but the boys from Vains of
Jenna can pull off a Tom Petty cover too, like
when they covered the Petty tune Refugee. While
many may assume that they would rather do a
Guns N Roses or Motley Crue cover, in actuality
they’d rather refrain from that. “We could do a
Guns N Roses cover, but why? It’s just going to
sound like Guns N Roses.” Nikki Ken asks Vains
lead guitarist.
Vains of Jenna are originally from Falkenberg,
Sweden. With a population of approximately
20,000 people it’s no wonder they left, “It’s the
smallest, shittiest town ever.” Ken proclaims. Ken
(Lead Guitar), JP White (Bass), Lizzy Devine
(Guitar & Vocals) and Jacki Stone (Drums), are
easy to spot in down town St. Petersburg
considering their attire. They look like relics from
the Sunset Strip district in Hollywood. California
circa 1987 with their teased bleached blonde hair,
tight jeans and vintage band T-Shirts with the
sleeves ripped off, it’s no wonder they chose
Hollywood as their destination. “I just think it’s
good for a band to live in LA, and our manager
lives there too.” Ken says.
Most people would be a bit weary of dropping
everything to move half way across the globe to a
country that they’ve never been to, but not Vains
of Jenna. They had a better reason than most
considering that they had Bam Margera as one of
their biggest fans. He first saw the band at The
House of Blues in Hollywood and at the time,
